What's the best way to move a well planted tank?
Obviously my fish and shrimp will need catching and transporting in bags in insulate boxes, the filters need to stay wet, and it all needs to be done as quickly as possible, but without stripping the plants out a couple of days before and "letting the dust settle" I can't see how I can be sure I've got all the livestock before I drain it.
And then there's the Assassin Snails in the substrate. What's the best thing to do about them?
And stripping a 250L tank the same day the house needs to be emptied fills me with dread.

Suggestions? Thoughts?

I just moved my tank 180 miles.

I didn't bother catching the few fish that were in it. I just drained the tank and left about 1" of water in it.
Next I slid it onto a board.
Then I put it in the car and drove very carefully for 3 1/2 hours.
Then put the stand into position and slid the tank back onto the stand.
Then I filled the tank back up and sorted the filters lights co2 etc.
I added floss to the filter for a week to help clear the water faster.

I followed up with daily water changes for a week or so.

I only lost 1 fish which wasn't in the best of condition to start with and I think that was down to the huge difference in the tap water/temperature, not the actual move.

Check and see if the water is coming from the same source, if it isn't you might want to take some water from your old house to fill the tank with.

Fairly easy to do with a 60l tank but you will need lots of muscle and a van to move yours

I'm sure someone else will have other tips/ ideas too

I was lucky when we last moved it was only about 10m just across the street, but i will be watching this thread as we are hoping to move after xmas.

Even when the tank was delivered and empty it was a significant two person lift. This time it will be moved by pros and there's no way it's getting moved with water in it.
It's just the sequence of strip-down I need to figure out.
