What is the best way to anchor montie carlo down when newly planted.

I remember using some toothpicks broken in the middle.

Dont want to hijack your thread but any idea why Monte Carlo grows vertically ? I mean instead of spreading laterally it grows like stem plants ?!?

Regular trimming should encourage it to go sideways.
