Hi everyone

I got bored with nothing to do during the weekend. My office and home tanks are low tech planted, growing slowly, so I thought let’s try setting up some terrestrial plants in my lil balcony garden.

Ikea planter box + 11 mini pots of assorted succulents (to be repotted)

Lava rocks go in first as a base.

Pumice stones next. I believe these two layers drain moisture from the top soil.

Cactus soil as top soil. Potting the succulents was a PITA, especially the thorny ones, it stung me even through my gardening gloves!

Very amateurish planting skills ha! But I learnt lots from the entire day spent repotting them.

Next office desktop tank idea: succulent-based tank a la Iwagumi plus Zen garden sans water?

I love stuff like this... I can sympathise with the hand pain too... imagine doing it in an aquarium though... with more restrictions to where you can move your hands!!!!
