Micros and Chelators

Hey All,

I have a question about micronutrients and chelators.
Talking about Copper Sulphate Pentahydrate (CuSO4.5H2O), the pentahydrate part (5H2O) is the chelator or ligand correct? or is this not chelated?

Would it be harmful to fish if dosing micros that arent chelated?

Unchelated. It is not harmful dosing unchelated nutrients. The 5H2O part is all the water that holds the Copper Sulphate molecules together to allow it to crystallise out of solution, know as water of hydration or crystallisation.

Dose away!

:)
Thanks, X3NiTH!
I ask because ready-made micromix is not available in my country. I have to procure each trace element on my own from farm and chemical suppliers. And even then, they are unchelated unlike CSM+b.
Anyhow, I have read that plants uptake the unchelated micros better, so I suppose this is somewhat of an upgrade.
