Micro Dosing vs Light

There's a debate the micros should be dosed when lights are off and some says the other way. What's your view and why?

In practice I don't think it really matters as long as the dose is regular.

One point to note, is that the chelated elements can be degraded by light, if this is bad or good, not sure, does it degrade and make it available to plants, no idea.

What is known is that the micros will react with the macros, if dosed together, forming insoluble phosphates and thus not be available for plant use.

If you are dosing EI, after a weeks worth of dosing, one dose of Micros will last well into the next day, regardless of when you dose.

So the micros containing chelated elements won't get effected while lights are on?

I think it would be well known if this was a major problem. I suspect it has an impact on some level, but nothing substantial enough to be a huge problem.

Okay will wait for anyone who faced such issue.

The micros, in the bottle will degrade with light, which is why you should keep them in a dark place or darkened bottle.

So this statement hints that light may interfere with chelated micro mix

There is a mainly a light issue when stored in solution for many months, but once in the tank I doubt light will be an issue, before the micro gets taken in by the plants.

So basically just dose when ever convenient and stop worrying about it.

Actually it is the chelating agents that are affected by the light.
But the rate is slow that nowadays they are one of the significant pollutants in the water.

As long as you dose regularly, this should not be an issue.

In the past I suspected that the time of dosing might be one of the things
that can make my tank a success or not. You know, when you aren't satisfied with
the state of your tank, you tend to suspect many things.

But it's not about the time of dosing. Dosing at night, just before light's on, when light's on.
Be it micro or macro, dosing both at the same time or not, I couldn't find a difference.

Thanks for sharing this. Often wondered about it.
