Mesh for slope scaping

As usual I'm trying to think latterally and come up with an alternative mesh for supporting a slope. I've seen a few mentions of Bonsai mesh, but I've only seen it for sale in small pieces. And ideally I'd like some way to have some of my substrate (Adakama) visible on top.
Any suggestions?

How about crotchet netting, have used it in the past when making an external. It worked out great for seperating the layers.

have a look in the journals - someone has recently posted a thread where they use sandbags to support the slopes. Can't search or link to it as i'm posting from my phone, but it is there! M
