Making sure plants are copper free

after last nights scare my shrimp stared to act strange by hanging around the top of the tank in groups. The only thing I can put it down to is some weed I put in a few hours before.
How do you make sure it's safe.
I gave it a good wash. Do you soak it for a few days?
I ran a airstone all night and did a 40% water change. I've seen a few this morning moving around.

Not sure about this but I heard some plants cultivated emmersed may contain pesticide residue?

I've found a few red cherries dead. Seen a few out and about and seen a few off my amanos too. So fingers crossed they are hiding under the big wood.

I cover my tank and use mosquito repellent to kill mosquito in my house. All Amano dead due to very tiny exposure.
