Hey everyone,
Sam from Chichester, kept freshwater (including 'nature style' planted tanks) for many years, but always hankered after a marine tank.
Covid hit, and so I setup a little 50l nano on my desk, and had some soft corals. The bug bit!
So, setup a 400l 120x60x50(h) sumped tank (DD Reefpro 1200). Ran for the past two years as a high end SPS (small polyp stony) reef, with a crazy amount of automation, trace element dosing via ICP testing, etc.).
However, life is kicking in. I work away a lot, wife is disabled so it's not ideal for when I'm away, etc.
So, here's the tank as of today:
Never done a 'big' freshwater tank. Always wanted a huge shoal of tetras...
Plan is to clean down and clear out the reef equipment this weekend. Get that up for sale and get some dosh back!
Then the plan is to have a pseudo Amazonian tank - angels, cardinals and corys. Hardscape that looks like a tree has fallen in. Plenty of emmersed, epiphytes (buces weren't a 'thing' when I was last in this world!) and crypts. 'Medium light', but relatively 'high tech' (pH controlled Co2 is a very comfortable concept for me, compared to automated pH/reagent alkalinity testing and multipart dosing!).
So, that's me. Need to decide on lights (AI Prime HD Freshwater I think give me what I want in terms of power and 'format')...
