Hi All ......
I am in the planning stages of a 60l low tech tank......I have 2 tmc grobeam 500's from a previous set up, what I am wondering is if I suspend them both high from the surface of the water (40CM) would this reduce light intensity enough for it to be suitable for my set up?
Each unit is rated at 12.5 watts(5x2.5 watt leds per unit)
Thanks for any thoughts on the subject......

Hello, you could use only one Grobeam, and play with his height to get the light intensity you want.

Michel.

Thanks for the reply Michel..........
I think that sounds like a sensible idea ....... I had the two of them hanging low over my 60l co2 set up which I just tore down, I ended up using only one at 30% in the final months.
I have been inspired and impressed by some of the low tech set ups on this forum..... going to give it a go....... I might do a journal on it when I get started.......

I had 1 500 tile on a 30cm cube. I still had epic algae when it was suspended 50cm above the tank. I eventually gave up lol..you could buy a 2 channel controller for £60 then dimming g is an option.

DSC00629.JPG cheers for the info Lindy....,in the end I wimped out and decided to go with a 36w cf fixture with a pink/white bulb, it is suspended 36 cm from the surface of the water so between that and the shade from emergent growth I am hoping to keep things in the realm of low tech...... lights on for 6hrs to start with.... tank is still cycling, no nitrites showing up yet, anyone care to make a tentative(or definitive!) identification on the emergent echinodorus? The guy in the aquarium shop gave it to me for free..... I was buying all my other plants there🙂
