In the process of setting up my first aqua scape after doing lots of research and I’m enjoying how it’s going just looking for opinions or tips that could possibly make it better before I go as far as adding water.

If this is your first aquascape you'll probably find that it can actually be kind of frustrating how you spend so long getting your hardscape tensegrity structure just right and perfectly balanced for feng shui and then the plants grow in well and you can barely see it. I've been pretty tempted to do a hardscape focus tank with very few plants recently.

This is great island looking scape. I would suggest you to lavel up the gravel on the back on the same lavel as it is on left site.
In contrast, for me, I'd be wanting some asymmetric planting with probably the tallest and greatest bulk of plants in the back right back corner. For that one would benefit from the deeper substrate there.
I prefer asymmetry in aquascapes and asymmetric planting with height tapering from tallest in the back right to shortest in the front left would complement the centralised symmetrical hardscape well, and give the scape some "perspective" (can't think of a better word).
