With a bit more time on my hands why not dig a big hole? 9ft by 6ft, 2ft deep at deepest part.

Fingers crossed!

Hi all,
make pebble beaches and cover the liner to protect it
I definitely <"would do this as well">.
does anyone see the same problem I do?
My garden pond just had rock and a bit of dead wood put in it when I finished, but it all still grew rather quicker than I hoped.

I'd be a bit concerned about the soil. I think it will introduce too many nutrients, and possibly wick the water out of the pond as well.

This was the pond in 2010, by 2018 there wasn't any open water.

I wouldn't be as worried about the shaded situation, ponds in woods develop their own specialised fauna, a lot of which feeds on leaf litter etc. Leaf fall will be an issue in the autumn.

The video good tip about the polyester underlay:)

I really love his edging design, making the wall with loads of caves and nooks and crannies below the water surface. Perfect in 2 ways, aesthetically pleasing and great for wildlife to hide and nest.

I'm in the planning to copy that in a small pond, it's already on y mind for a few years, but yet could not source the material for it. All I can find in my region offering garden design materials are way to expensive for that.
