Lime scale advise

Hi all,

Any tips on removing limes limescale build up without too much disruption to the inhabitants?

white vinegar works well, and a razor blade.
I concur with this, razor blade in a scraper cradle (stanley and screwfix do good ones they are like 2 quid) and either just use water for the soft stuff, or a spray with vinegar and wait 5 mins for the chunkier stuff, i'm constantly scraping evap lines myself, but if you do it regularly you don't need the vinegar.

Still got some left over when I used to edit sound effects of 1/4 reel to reel tapes

They work well without vinegar and you can adjust the angle of attack. Also good for removing silicon sealant that you got all over the glass.
 
Drape some kitchen paper towels drenched in vinegar over the edge of the tank. You won't get much vinegar in the water and it will stay plenty of time in contact with the limescale. Afterwards use a razor blade if necessary.
