Currently using an EHEIM skim 350 to remove biofilm but would like to reduce the amount of equipment in the tank, so my question is do Lilly pipe skimmers work ?
Looking at the Chihiros glass ones but I’m open to suggestions, filter is an EHEIM professional 5e 700

As far as lily pipe skimmers go I’ve only used the Aquario Neo ones which are on the outlet instead of the intake, works well though.

I had one and it didn’t work very well for me. YMMV.
Second this, was a constant faf and any evaporation caused the skimmer to not work properly. I currently use LitiAquaria pipes and honestly its great, no issues probably the best pipes ive to date.

These need a consistent water level to work properly. I alway use auto top off on all my aquariums. Long time saltwater keeper. I do use a plastic wire tie to keep the level constant. Also the canister filter has to be strong. I keep the bottom intake open to balance the water intake.

Fortunately I have an ato and the EHEIM 700 has lots of flow, I’ll take the plunge and order as soon as they become available somewhere

I have one and it works perfectly. I tried the Oase and All Pond Solutions in tank mechanical things and hated them both, far too much junk and cables in the tank.

I have the evolution aqua glassware set, using it with a biomaster 600, to be honest I hate the skimmer. Sure it does a good job, but it just bobs up and down randomly for no apparent reason and gets sucked under. I wrapped a cable tie around the stalk to set the level where it can't get sucked under, just means i have to keep up on top ups. Also if you keep shrimp they tend to climb up it at night and enter from the top so you may have to modify it with a bit of mesh.

I find that if the skimmer starts bobbing a clean, even if the sections don’t look dirty, with the supplied cleaning brush of the surface section, inlet pipe and inlet grill stops it,

I find the glass ones really fragile and at some point break them during cleaning (two anyway) .. Might just be me. I bought a stainless one.

Not quite as pretty but a lot stronger,
I put two o rings around the floating bit to stop it sinking. (you could use a tie wrap)

I run high flow and it was a bit marginal, I also like to be able to set the depth it sits at.

During water changes I bung the top
