Currently I run a chihiros rgb 60 on my 80x40x40 which grows plants perfectly. It is not bad at all for the eye to. But I saw some pictures of the ada rgb solar showing great colors of green and red plants. It is expensive, not dimmable and just on/off no cycle...

So I looked further and saw the AI prime freshwater.
I need 2 units of this to cover my tank.
Could I expect the same of this as the ada solar rgb?
Or is the ada rgb solar unbeatable?

It is still a huge investment of €580 for 2 units with hanging kits. Would it be a big difference for my eye compared to the chihiros rgb?

I have odd dimensions (80x40x40) otherwise I would have gone for the twinstar s series.

Any help appreciated 😀

I would think a Twinstar 600SP on a hanging bracket would give you good coverage on your size tank? Would it be any better than the RGB you have now for the extra money? This is hard to say.

Someone told me the coverage will not be enough even with pendant style.

Only started setting my tank up yesterday,So not really a good test. But first impressions on the 600S on a aquascaper 600 tank with 50cm front to back depth i am impressed with the lights coverage.

Before investing in the AI Primes make certain you're keen on their software (only) control - definitely watch the software setup video - there's some decent discussion over on PlantedTank but I've not seen any convincing photos re the visual aspect
Local shop has just put these on significant sale & I was thinking to pick up a pair, until I went through the software requirements & some of the bugs/glitches that have been reported (& stubbornly refused to "fix" despite manufacturer assistance)

I'd need to use the tank mounts and these have remained unchanged despite same issues reported for years (& company has not been very supportive of the dodgy mounts that have shipped)

I'm disappointed that the 80* lens which is standard cannot be changed out (Hydra series does have lens kits) - this narrow lens was standard several years ago, most manufacturers have since moved to 100* - 120* lens re burning of corals

Note the Prime is definitely not great for freshwater esthetics, the newly released Prime Freshwater should be better but I was surprised that the manufacturer couldn't be bothered to arrange planted tank photos/video

Hmm Thats not really convincing.

I like it that you can control it by smartphone but buggy Thats another thing…

Did you see the New prime freshwater irl?

How much was the sale?

Any thoughts about an alternative for 80 cm tank?

My plan was to use the hanging kit.
