Mini Video of the flow in my Juwel 190, I'm using an Eheim Pro 4+ 350 with the added Hydor Koralia nano 2200 to boost flow. Koralia pump placed opposite spray bar (for now) aiming as low as possible to avoid cancelling out the spray. The Koralia has generated a nice flow across the front of the tank but there is still little to no movement beyond the tree.

Am I right in thinking Flow is all about the distribution of the Co² in the tank?
If this is correct can I turn the Koralia pump off outside of the Photo period without having any adverse effect on the tank?

Looks good most plants gently wafting.

I turn my koralia off at 7pm three hours before CO2 off as tank is in the lounge so as to reduce the slight hum it makes. It stays off till next CO2 on time.

Try placing your drop checker amongst the plants and see what colour it goes. I tied mine to a stone with string so I could place it anywhere in the tank. Was quite surprised that I could get green drop checking in one place and yet a couple of cm away it stayed blue.

3hrs before Co² goes off, How long is your photo period ? I assume you have nomal lighting in the evening, I use a blue light for evening veiwing but it isn't great I may reverse lighting and start with blue so I can have later viewing.

My photo period is 5 to 6pm two tubes, 6pm till 10pm 4 tubes then 10pm to 11pm two tubes. So photo period 6hours 2 tubes and 4hours 4 tubes.

CO2 comes on 2 hours before lights and off 1 hour before lights off.

Wave maker on with CO2 and off at 7pm.

I have air on at 10:45 to agitate tank and surface and degas CO2.

Your the first person I have heard off doing Co² 2hrs before photo period.
You have really got me on the air agitating the tank and the degasing, may I ask why ?

Hmmm most people put CO2 on 2 hours before lights on, all the CO2 tutorials state "2 hours before lights on". My drop checker is nicely green when lights come on.

I used the air to de-scum my water surface when I first set up my tank. Like most people when I first set up my hi-tech tank I suffered surface film/scum. Putting air on stopped that. Also has the effect of stirring up settled detritus allowing it to be filtered away.

I would love to know if you did a journal of your tank to read?
Never got round to a blog...but did build some wonderful stuff.

My current "best" project is the PLC controller. http://www.ukaps.org/forum/threads/how-to-use-a-plc-to-control-your-fish-tank-part-1.42993/

I dont remember where i was reading it but it seemed to be the norm for 1hr prior ( getting old ), my drop checker is always green (morn/noon/night) saying that i must change it position.
