John Innes No 3 or Westland New Horizon

I’m going to be setting up my first soil tank today, and I’m unsure which potting soil to buy.

Is this New Horizon soil ok - Westland New Horizon Peat Free All Plant Compost - 50L | Wickes.co.uk, or do I need to go for something like John Innes No 3 (Westland John Innes No.3 Compost 35L | DIY at B&Q) ?

I’ll be putting the soil in mesh bags and topping off with play sand (https://www.tesco.com/groceries/en-GB/products/310576529?preservedReferrer=https://www.google.co.uk/).

Thank you. I did read that before posting, but still wasn’t sure if New Horizon would be ok.

The tutorial specifically mentions John Innes No 3, but not sure which specific variation of it is best or if I should mix it 1:1 with aquatic compose as well?

I've never set up a soil/compost tank.....but I would use Pond Compost....similar to this

Ah ok, thank you. With that in mind, Westland Aquatic Compost 20 L seems to be the recommendation for pond soils.

And you would use just that? Instead of mixing it with something like JI no 3?
