JBL 1500 won't prime anymore, please help.

Hi all, I have set up my new scape and am anxious to get things moving along. However, my JBL 1500 filter wont prime. I have upgraded to the new upper basket and have ensured its aligned correctly. I have removed the distribution plate as per instructions. Now the filter will not prime. I have tried it without the upper basket and no joy. It used to prime so easily often without even using the plunger, just opening the taps. What could be wrong.

I just pour water into the inlet/outlet holes till full, rather than prime mine. Just reconnect pipes, apply power, allow to gurgle a bit and eventually all is fine.

Take the outlet out the tank below waterlevel, suck it till it starts filling up, keep it below waterlevel till water comes out, put back in place, start filter. That should do it😱

Yhanks for the replies guys. It was a bit difficult as I was using stainless steel intakes and outlet pipes. I changed the inlet to an Eheim and poured water into the inlet hose with the taps on the filter closed. When I opened then the filter primed. I think I'll change to the Eheims as it seems the new style filter basket makes the filter difficult to prime. Cheers.

I am having exactly the same issue. I have ended up enduring the pump is full and the inlet pipe is full before priming to expel any air.
