Hi,

Just cutting back some plants that were covering over the top of some Java Ferns and surpised to see this leaf coming up amidst them, though could not see its actual base among the tangle of roots and bogwood.
The stem must be 200+mm tall and the trident shaped head about 50mm in diameter.

Thought it might be some form of flower shoot but not been able to find any reference to anything other than the standard Java Fern leaf.

Could it be a different plant ??

It could be a new plant that sporulated with this genetic permutation, or it could simply be an existing plant that has varied it's leaf form.
Java ferns that adopt this leaf form as a long-term genetic permutation I have seen called: Microsorum pteropus var. ‘Trident’.
