Hi All
Before joining UKAPS i didnt know aquatic mosses where available
after reading some great posts on here i now have mini xmas and willow moss growing in containers on the window sill, fasinating. (and kindly donated by one of the members)
I was looking at some you tube vids last night and came across one with a guy attatching java moss to slate, the guy said java moss was one of the mosses that attatches itself after a few weeks, is this true?
what other mosses do this?
thanks Pete

There are a number of mosses that do this. Both of the mosses you have currently will, along with Fissidens, and a number of ferns. Methods of attachment include tying it one with string or fishing wire, or blending it down, mixing with natural yoghurt and painting it onto the surface. It is then kept moist until it has established itself on the rock/wood.

Hi Henry
thanks for reply
the mosses i have in my tank at the moment are tied to slate with a fine nylon thread, and are starting to grow and look quite good, this is all new to me so it,s quite interesting stuff
thanks again Pete
