Had a a pair of Apistogramma cacatuoides for a couple of weeks now in a reasonably planted tank with caves and other botanicals.
Nothing unusual going on, saw female go in the cave a couple of times but thought nothing of it.
That was until today. I always look to see if she’s ok and feeding. Today, I have around 20 free swimming babies.
Mum standing guard while dad is around.
They share the tank with a pair of Ottos.
Babies being fed on micro worms plus anything they can pick off the botanicals.
I’ve been Keeping every kind of tropical, marine and cold water fish for 50 years including many species of cichlids. But there’s nothing like the buzz I get to this day to see a family of cichlids out for the first time.
Babies too small to photograph at the moment.
Should I be doing anything else?
