Hello, i bought years ago a canister eden 521 that been used in saltwater, it was the first time i saw an impeller where the shaft can't be removed from the impeller, the filter is definetly not quiet, there is a kind of ratling sound. I decided to buy a new one, either there is a faulty new impeller or they are built like that. How the impeller can turn on the shaft ?

You can also notice on the picture that at the level of the plastic of orange color is a roughness, is it tolerable ? thx

Made in Italy, they make quality normally, weird

Looks OK to me from here. If it proves to be too rough just gently file it with a fine file (Needle File).
Cheers!

update: after a day the noise is way lower, still noticable but the ratling sound seems 90% gone, i doubt there is a 100% silent canister filter ?

I have a JBL e702 on one of my tanks and after a water change I sometimes have to restart it because the impeller is noisy- as though it is not properly aligned and hitting the side. 1 or 2 restarts cures the noise, I don't know if this might be useful for your filter.

With the old one i had to wait few weeks for it to quiet a bit, there was a biofilm on it. The new one seems to be quiet enough in two days, it will increase with time maybe. I was thinking to put silicon grease on it

Silicone grease is fine for gaskets ,seals etc but you want the impellor to run clean and free iie water movement unimpeded, Do you regularly clean the impellor chamber and surrounding housing, surprising how debris mulm builds up there
