Iron bacteria

Hi, hopefully I've attached some pics of an oily film on the surface of my tank. I'm thinking iron bacteria from the eco complete. I have no fish in there at the moment. I find it quite attractive in an odd way. It's quite colourful. However, will it get worse over time and cause a horrible mess and will it reduce the amount of light getting through? I'm still a beginner so any help is appreciated.

I had the same issue and also use eco complete. I just bought a surface skimmer and stuck my co2 diffuser underneath it. The bubbles get sucked in before they hit the surface and dispersed around the tank. It's a 2 in 1 little gadget but my tank is only 85litres.

I thought there may have been some correlation between fert dosing and the film but I'm not sure anymore.

Could well be the eco complete. Get a surface skimmer. It will take about 3 minutes to clear. It will help while you try to pinpoint the exact cause.
