Hi I'm looking for a plant to grow around the base of stump like piece of bogwood, the area will be quite shaded by the wood
?

It depends on whether you want plants attached at the base of the wood, or in the substrate around the base. Attached to wood: Anubias, Bucephalandra and Java Fern do well in low light levels. In the substrate most Cryptocorynes will do well with low lighting.

These are just a few examples from my limited experience, the Tropica easy plant list is a good place to start for plants that generally can handle less light.

I will be growing a few plants attached to the wood, but around the base they will be substrate planted, crypts fit the bill, just need to find the right one I want small leaves and not much height - thanks for tropica link

Crypt. beckettii 'petchii' is one of the smaller, tolerating low light well.
