Hello. New to this forum and am still getting to grips with how it works. Sorry if I'm repeating something that's already been posted.

I am having trouble with my tank and plant growth. On water testing I am only getting about 5ppm nitrates and was wondering if that could be the cause? I have a 55 litre tank I do a 20% water change once a week and am adding tropica premium nutrition daily (1ml) the pic shows how my plants are growing and the new leaves tend to be very light in colour. Any advice is much appreciated. Cheers 👍

Hi,
Could be nitrogen, iron, magnesium or something else.
I'd double up on the premium dose for now and get some tropica specialised or cheaper complete fertiliser to add in some nitrogen and phosphate that the premium lacks, the aditional specialised or other will also add extra iron and magnesium which could help.

Pale new growth would be an immobile nutrient so that excludes nitrogen and likely magnesium. Iron is a very common deficiency. Would try upping the ferts a bit. If you have a lot of fish in comparison to plants Premium might be perfectly fine instead of Specialised. The rest of the plant looks good to me 👍

Light coloured new leaves are normal in most plants, the leaves will darken with age!
5ppm is a tad Low in my opinion this may lead to distorted leaves.
Tropica Premium is a Micro/Trace fertilizer your missing out on NPK for the plants!
Probably better to switch to

The Corymbosa looks pretty healthy to me, other than the leaf tips look distorted!
This may be down to drying out....during water changes or a shortage of Macro ferts.
