Hi everyone, I have just set up a Hamburg mat Filter, for shrimp, but I thought that my 700lph pump should have a pretty substantial flow, but I couldn't feel anything on the other side of the foam wall, so I figured that it was just filtering the water inside it over and over again, so I have now made a hole in the wall, and fed the outlet through, so now the filtered water is being blasted away from it, is this ok? Can anyone see this causing any problem's? Or has anyone else had problem's like this and fixed them in a different way?

the inlet is supposed to be inside the filter, and the outlet on the outside.

so yeah, previously you were just filtering the water on the inside of the filter...

now water should be drawing through the sponge and clean water back into your tank through the outlet.
