High Silicates in Tank

Hi all,

I have a 30L heavily planted nano with neons and shrimp.

Some months ago I was battling BBA (daily liquid carbon, direct application of hydrogen peroxide, frequent water changes) but eventually saw a long term fix after changing from tap water to RO water bought from my LFS. I've now bought my own small RO filter which seems to work excellently.

However, recently I've seen a few edges showing a hint of BBA. Not to focus on the algae too much but I was checking my water levels as a result.

I noticed the water in my RO tub measures pleasantly low in SiO2 whereas my tank measures surprisingly high.

I use Tropica soil substrate, Neo CO2, a Filtosmart Thermo 100, daily Tropica Specialised ferts 2-4ml, 30% water change twice a week, feeding Tetra mini flakes once/twice daily. Any ideas what would be causing the increase of silicates?

Thanks,
David

Thanks for the help, Hanuman. Any suggestions are appreciated. I don't know if I've missed something obvious.

I only have a couple of smaller aquascaping stones on which I first tied the anubias and trident ferns.
