After much reading and learning on here, I thought I would actually sign up!
Some of you may have seen me around on other forums where I'm sometimes known as hensonc4098 or Claire, as on here.
For those that don't know me, I'm 19 and a vet student at Glasgow uni. Fish wise, I have 5 tanks (4 currently running) - 1 bare tank for raising angel fry, a 100l with no plants, 180l low tech planted and 180l high tech planted. The other tank that isn't currently running is a 35l that I'm seeking some inspiration on...
I hope to expand my knowledge further here. Seen some stunning tanks already having had a look around.
Looking forward to getting to know you all!
Claire

A long time it seems Stu. Tried reading some of the EI stuff on here and my head nearly exploded. Think I'll be sticking with the online calculators and my trusty fluidsensor printout haha :)

Ahh, great! I had wondered if I was the only fishkeeper around here since everyone on the other forums seemed to be from down south lol.

You had any more luck than I have of finding good shops around here?

Paisley Road West used to be full of great Aquarium places, but I was disappointed when I took a wander there a couple of months back.
I usually go to Dobbies in Braehead for plants, Maidenhead Aquatics for fish, foods, etc, and buy online for everything else.
There's a good place for CO2 in South Street but the smallest bottle is 7KG - £40 deposit, and around £14 for a fill.

Obviously the best planted tank shop is The Green Machine, at Wrexham, a mere 254miles away from Glasgow...

Paisley Rd W isn't bad, but it's not anything special either. One of the shops (Aquarium Design) sometimes has more unusual fish but well priced in comparison to MA though.
I've not been to Dobbies in braehead in about a year - is it good? I don't remember really as I was with the grandparents...
CO2 is easy for me since my dad is a specialist in fire alarms, warden call systems, emergency lighting and fire extinguishers :p
The only other place I find can be good is my nearest P@H which is the one in great western retail park. They did up their plant section a bit recently and even gave over some of their fish tanks for displaying tanks. Since it's nearly all tropica stuff then it's pretty decent. Otherwise, TGM or AE it is.

Hi Claire  , nothing wrong with us southerners!
With all these lovely ladies joining ill have to start wearing pants when i come online

Well there's a thought to conjure with... :angelic:

No time at all. I'll just jump in the car :D

Ref Dobbies, it depends on when they get their Tropica shipment, Thursdays if I remember correctly. Prob best to call to confirm.

Cool. Will do. What are their prices like in comparison to the likes of TGM, AE and P@H?

Typically 3 for £10. They also often have some of the aqua decor plants on wood and lava rock pieces.

Pretty decent then. Will take a run over sometime - combine it with an IKEA trip... :woot: lol
