Hi,
I've been following threads on UKAPS for a little over a year now... it was about time I joined as a member.
Like many I had fish as a kid and then not again for many years. I was dragged back into the hobby as my kids wanted a pet... so we've now ended up with two planted tanks.
I never tried planted tanks before 18 months ago. Since then I set up my first (40L, RiverReef) and eventually second (5 months ago, 330L second hand with fish). I'm not afraid of the technical side of the hobby but feel I can use some guidance on the soft "skill/intuition" side.
I'll be posting asap with details of my second larger tank. I've got what I consider a decent "spec" of kit but I don't think I'm yet getting the growth I should.
The 40L tank is now in a dry state as it's being transformed into an Iwagumi-style shrimp tank. I'm impressed how easy it is to grow Hemianthus callitrichides emersed; my submerged plants (330L) did not make it! 🙁
Anyhoo, I look forward to some suggestions when I post in more detail.
Regards,
Dave
