Hi đź‘‹ back after a long absence.

Broke down my big tank, but managed to hang onto a wee 60l which I'm in the process of planning out.

I've forgotten so much. I obviously would like to plant it, but maybe not very heavily. Just got myself some mopani wood yesterday, deffo some easy plants, java fern, anubis, mosses. I would really love something that can be planted aquatically, that will grow up out of the water (without getting too big).I'd thought about a small pitcher plant but obs I'd need a platform for that, it couldn't be submersed.

My big question, is substrate.

What do I go for? This tank was last set up just with playsand and did pretty well, or do I go for a plant substrate?just worried about excess nutrients as it's just a wee tank 🤔

Welcome back 🙂
Play sand is a good option, particularly if you're mostly planning on growing epiphytes. If it worked for you before there's no need to change, unless you fancy trying something new like Tropica AS for example.

Thanks folks, any suggestions for something that won't grow too big that will grow up out of the water?I may just get a wee bag of aquasoil for this, pot it up and hide it behind the wood. Must say I'm looking forward to having a tank set up again. Is liquid co2 still a thing??

Welcome! As far as I know “liquid co2” is essentially just gluteraldehyde which is an algecide and has nothing to do with Co2. It’s recommended if you’ve got out of control algae but not as a substitute for pressurised co2…
