So I've been keeping fish since winning my first goldfish at a church fundraising event 34 years ago, aged 6 at the time. I had no clue what I was doing at all. So I started buying books about fish, visiting the library and tried to learn all i could about fish. Then in my teens, I managed to make friends with a guy who had more money than he knew what to do with and decided he wanted to turn his garage into a fish room. He knew I was interested in fish keeping so asked if I'd help set up and maintain all the aquariums. I agreed and in no time we had a great fishroom. I decided I wanted the aquariums to look more natural so started researching different biotopes and how to create them. That was my first proper leap into aquatic plants. I messed about with various tanks over the following years until landing a job in Maidenhead Aquatics at the end of lockdown. That just continued my addiction with aquariums and fish keeping, along with learning more about aquarium plants. Then a year ago, we had a new member of staff start and he is very into aquascaping and aquarium plants, and that's just fuelled me to learn even more.
