I confess to have been lurking here for about a month or so and have found the Society a great resource.
Recently I found the book ‘All About Tropical Fish', which I got for my fourteenth birthday present in 1965, when encouraged by my dad I had 6 tanks and bred six or seven different species of fish.
Fast forward many years during which I dabbled in and out of community tanks as time and finances allowed, and arrive at the present day when I stumbled across a couple of guys selling some aquascaping kit. Long story short I bought a couple of 'the aquascaper' tanks - 40 and 200 litre, all the co2 stuff, Chihiros lighting and Oase filtration, plus hardscape. Quite a change from 1964 - the tech has progressed somewhat! Down the learning curve I travel.
I set the 40 litre up about a month ago - its thriving, is thickly planted and has 8 fish and 6 shrimp. It is intended to be a holding tank for the big tank which I filled at the weekend and planted out with the Classic Nature Style Collection from Aquarium Gardens. Wasn’t all plain sailing but many of the issues I encountered were solved by reference to the forums the Society hosts.
