Hi everyone

I’m new to planted tank hobby having converted from marines after a break of a couple of years and a house move. I started with a very basic shrimp bowl with a carpet of dwarf hair grass and a “tree” I made from Monte Carlo…..now I’ve got the bug and just bought my first “proper” aquarium a Superfish 45 scaper, so thought I’d better sign up to the forum for some advice and moral support.

As usual I am aiming far too high and trying a Dutch aquascape……so plenty of mistakes ahead of me no doubt 🙂

Check out Erkut Akyildiz (Tropic Tank) on YouTube. He doesn’t follow stringent Dutch “rules”, but he does make a nice “Dutch” tank or two.

Yes thx I’ve seen his videos, beautiful tanks. One of his scapes contrasting Rotala Vietnam, R bonsai and Hemianthus Micranthemoides inspired my build. His videos are beautiful but too many closeups for my taste 🙂

Yeah I agree. But it offers something different I suppose.
Good luck with your setup mate. Have a search on here for Dutch aquariums (if you haven’t already) there is one chap who loves a plant only tank and his name escapes me.
