Thanks for having me on the forum. I am repairing my old 20 US gallon Metaframe tank I brought back from the States. I had it set up as a dirted tank, capped with fine gravel and collected aquatic plants from the river on the ranch I managed in central Texas, and from various other water bodies locally. I stocked it with Jordanella floridae, which I enjoyed and they bred like rabbits.

Now I’m back in England, I’m going to set it up for goldfish, having found a fairly local breeder of good, red, commons. I have just removed the old slate bottom, which had deteriorated and was leaking and am replacing it with 1/4” glass, because easier.

Then, I’m putting in an UGF and will put some Java Fern varieties attached to lava rock in the hopes it can survive the goldfish.

Planning at some stage to also set up an Axolotl tank and a large tank for wild type Angels, Emerald catfish and Emperor Tetras, perhaps some festivum Cichlids also. Am interested for these in doing a fluidised K1 sump, perhaps with a gravel bed in the sump as well. Hoping to find someone willing to sell some Echinodorus angustifolius or whatever we’re supposed to call it these days (not Vesuvius, just the species) for the Angel tank. I must confess I am slightly disappointed that the large growers such as Tropica and Dennerle seem to cater to the latest fads for aquascapers at the expense of the good old, tried and true plants but I guess that’s where the money is.

Would also love to find some of the Hydrocotyle verticillata “Small Form” I had in Texas. Very, very small, made a beautiful carpet an inch or so high.

Lastly, looking eventually for Nymphaea glandulifera.

Thanks again
