Hello everybody. My name is Matt Cook (Cookie)

I decided to join this page as not had the best of luck with my planted tank ever since my old juwel t5 unit packed up and i lost all my plants. I would put a picture up of the tank atm but tbh its bare bar the bog wood and rocks. Plus i had to shove my small koi in there from pond as he didnt deal with winter too great and nearly died of hypothermia.

I want to go led. so far 'ive tried two lights.... a fluval aquasky 30w which was useless and broke in 7 months. I then tried the juwel helialux 1200 54w and again... no joy =( not a sniff of growth. Ive just bought 2 xTMC grobeam colour plus 1500 tiles and smart control timer. hoping these will be better than others.

the tank is 4ft with 21" depth. im using liquid carbon (easycarbo)

wish me luck! any help for setting the light time cycle or helping to grow would be appreciated. this is my last attempt before i give up.

Hello Matt and welcome!

Here’s a quick slice of what I’d recommend:

Fluval freshwater plant 2.0 LED’s at 70-80% intensity of 7-8 hours per day, EI dosing or Neutro+ (plant fertiliser), Easycarbo, good co2 injection, good flow of near to x10 your tank’s volume per hour and use plenty of patience! But obviously start off ‘small’ minimum intensity of lighting or keep duration down to 5 hours per day and start feeding your plants from the start.

Best wishes!

Matty
