Has anyone used the Violet style outflow?

Hi All,

Has anyone here used the Violet style outflow rather than the Lily? I'm considering this:

http://www.co2art.co.uk/collections...le-glass-aquarium-outflow-lily-pipe-o17-16-22

My aquarium is a TMC Signature 60x45x45 and due to the tank being taller relative to the width compared to a lot of the more panoramic style aquariums, I thought I might benefit more from the Violet style that would push the water and therefore the CO2 down towards the substrate more. I'll be running an Eheim Skim350 side by side with the outflow.

If anyone has any experience with these I would appreciate your thoughts and opinions please.

Me! 🙂

I bought one of these somemonths ago for my 60 liters tank (60x30x36 cm). I used it with a JBL e901 with very good results. I'm not sure if it pushes down the flow more than the others, but it is a hard piece of equipment and does what it is expected to do at a very reasonable price. As you may have noticed I say "I used" it... but not anymore. Now I am using a standard glass lily pipe from AquaGro (the classic shape one) for a personal reason, nothing to do with technical aspects: every night I lift the outflow at lights off, and the Co2Art Violet outflow in this position makes a lot of noise (due to the bell shaped outflow being compressed laterally? Due to a very powerful flow from my overdimensioned filter? Maybe due to directing the flow downwards? Not sure). Even with the living room door closed you could hear it from the other part of the house (at least in the middle of the quiet night). As you can imagine, the family was not very happy and I could not aerate the tank (which is an absolute need for me for having healthy growth in the longterm). I took my old classic shaped AquaGrow and I found that the standard shape outflow can be lifted and in a certain position it produces bubbles and breaks nicely the surface but the noise is not that strong... and everybody can sleep.
If this is not a constraint for you, go ahead. I love it.

Thanks very much for your comments. I don't think your issues should be a problem for me as I plan to leave it lowered at all times and run an airstone for surface agitation when the CO2 is off.
