Hey guys,

I need to hang 3 x Ecotech Radion XR15FW over my 180cm tank.

My question is: How do I align ceiling drilling holes so that it's perfectly aligned with the tank? Hopefully somebody who has OCD and has done this can chime in.

Thanks

The cheapest way is to use an oldschool Plumb-bob

you can buy one or make one yourself from a Screw-eye and a piece of thread or fishing line.
Put the tank in place.. Than hold the line against the ceiling and hang the Plumb-bob down at a corner of the tank and make a small marker point on the ceiling where the line is if all is level. Repeat this for all four corners.. Now you have 4 markings on the ceiling in the tanks dimension perfectly in line with the tank bellow it. From there you measure out on the ceiling where the centres from the cable connectors need to be screwed in.

Or go with a laser pointer if you have some cash to spare and do it the modern fancy way. 🙂

Brilliant. What kind of laser pointer. I see there's 2 way and 3 way pointers

What kind of laser pointer.

You would need one that can do vertical leveling.. 🙂

Than you put the tank in place and mark it's dimension on the cabinet top shelf with masking tape. Or place a piece of paper on the cabinet same dimension as the tank. Measure out, draw and mark where the light pendules need to come on the paper, put the vertical laser on it and beam it to the ceiling. That's it.. Pretty simple.. But as said this you can also do with a DIY plumb bob for free.. 🙂 Only need a piece of paper same size as the tanks bottom panel.
