Can grolux t8 tubes cause algae in planted tank

Yes they can grow algae perfectly well when something is wrong in your tank. Both plants and algae need & use light, doesn't really matter if it comes from T8 tubes, light bulbs, T5 tubes, LED's etc, if tank has issues then algae will thrive instead on the plants.
We need more information on your tank before we can diagnose but use of Grolux T8 tubes is not the issue.
