Im looking for the best glue/silicone to hold down 3 large log sized pieces of wood.
I want to glue them onto the glass bottom of the tank so they stand upright.

Any suggestions how to go about this?

Hi ,

Dont glue/silicon them directly onto your fish tank, use some aquarium sealant and fix them onto some slate or similar rock then hide the slate underneath your substrate once set .

These logs are heavy and large. I would guess that they will still float glued to slate.

Heres my idea...cut the logs 6cm from the bottom (staight through) and glue the 6cm piece to the glass then the remaining log glued onto the 6cm piece.
The substrate will hide the 6cm +

I just need to be sure that it will hold.

The problem with very large wood is when it comes to superficial glewing that the wood slowly soakes and water gets between the wood and glew. The wood surface where the glew is on gets soft due to the soaking probbably long before the wood is properly soaked thgroughly and might let loose again. Kit doesn't penetrate wood as gel superglew doesn't it's just superficial glewing.

Rather find a suitable rock and try to drill a hole in it (slate might do) and screw the rock to the wood with a stainless steel screw. If you not confident with a stainless steel screw you could consider hammering a wooden wedge in the hole to attach the stone. The soaking will only tighten the wedge even more..

silly question has your wood been "pre-soaked"?

Its been soaked with two weeks of rain water. The log has not been cut yet so its 10 feet long and about 10inches round.

I rather like the idea of drilling it into stone. This would solve a great deal of issues!

Its rather large but it will be cut into three pieces. Do you see now how i cant soak it in water! Luckly i live in Scotland and it rains alot...its raining now!
