Glueing to inside of tank

No it sits on some little acrylic shelves that are glued to the inside of the tank and then the mesh frame is flush with the top of the tank so it is less visable. There is a video on you tube that demos how the build the thing, but it dosnt show the guy gluing the shelves on. here is a link to a step by step guide which includes a photo of the shelf thing but no advise on what bonding is used. http://www.simplyaquaria.co.uk/uploads/2/1/8/1/21814848/diy_tank_cover_manual.pdf

Ahh I get you. Wouldn't the shelves be visible from the front though? There's not much weight so silicone would do the job anyway.

Just seems unsightly to me though. If I'd gone to the effort of an open top tank and pendant, I'd prefer seeing a tiny bit of plastic on the top then some random chunks of perspex visible from the front, if you know what I mean?

Can't edit: I've just clicked on that you have just took the hood off and gone for a pendant. I had it in my head you were talking about a rimless/braceless type tank. I'm guessing you have a pelmet round the tank so you wouldn't see anything anyway. 🙄

Silicone will do the job

Can't you just sit it on the tank braces?

NC10 I do have a rimless tank and now you've mentioned seeing the random chunks of plastic inside the tank its got me thinking this may look dodgy but I might just give it a go anyway. maybe ill post a photo when its done and then we can judge if its a good idea or not. Thanks for your interest your opinion is welcome and has made me think of something that I would have disregarded.

lol so I was right in the first place, never mind, as long as I helped in some way

You could just wait and see how flimsy the cover actually is before adding the shelves. You may only need the shelves at either end then if it's pretty sturdy.
