Garden soil as substrate.

Anyone here using this as substrate?

can i use this as substrate only,i mean i will not put gravel or sand on top,,only soil 5cm depth..have anyone tried that?

A few have used the garden soil, ie John innes number 3 but cap it with sand or gravel as if not, then you'll have one very murky tank.
I'll be trying soil out myself shortly but I'd advise to definitely cap it

What should be the depth of soil and gravel ?

I'd say about an inch of soil and an inch to inch and half of gravel/sand
