FX4 clear intake/outlet options

Having been absent from keeping fish for the past 15 years, tech and options have vastly moved on. Contextually I used to run a 200l tropical aquarium with great success - fast forward 15 years & now with a 4yr old showing interest I purchased a small set up & remembered my past passion. My career allows me now to invest in something bespoke & as a result I have just commissioned a 200x65x35 (100g) closed top tank to fit on top of my wine rack. I’ve been exploring a number of options around filtration and was fortunate enough to pick up a cheap FX4. I also have a 206 to run alongside this if necessary. Primarily my intention is to find aesthetic solutions to the intake/outlet feed. I believe that the standard pipes provided with the FX4 are 24mm & I have seen a few threads referring to suggestions to resolve this issue, but I remain unclear how successful/sustainable these were. Secondary to this I am also struggling to find inline options for CO2 delivery and I would appreciate any pointers/suggestions for solutions. I’ve emailed fluval and they state that they don’t provide filtration inline solutions. They also suggest that inline CO2 is ineffective, which from my reading does not appear to be the case. Given my commitment to wanting to do things right from the offset I’d much prefer to get experiential advice to avoid future problems.

I made my own out of 25mm OD 304 stainless steel. Not clear, but a good looking option. No glass options out there unless you can find someone to make custom ones for you.

I also made clear acrylic ones but, as I have two children age three or less, I determined they weren’t up to the task.

Re: CO2, I made a Cerges reactor and my FX4 is running both that and my UV.

Have you tried making pipes out of PETG plastic? Allegedly more durable than acrylic. I think only one company makes it and the largest size is 17mm.

I am looking to this with my FX6. But 24mm Pipes may seem to be the issue for me. Internal dimensions or external ones required ? I believe the 24mm is external.

I use 25mm ID silicone hose and 1”/25.4mm barb fittings for all of my plumbing.

Here’s a thread I created over on PlantedTank about them:

Thanks. I think I need to get a grip on the terminologies whilst finding someone with the skills necessary to fix this issue for me. Much appreciated though

Has anyone else clarified measurements associated with FX piping? I’m keen to make sense of whether the FX can be modified to achieve a minimalist appearance or whether to ditch this in favour of something else - what exactly I’m unsure of. I don’t have the skills to master any complex modifications, just looking for simple solutions to achieve an aesthetic goal

You could use a Y splitter and reduce the outputs to 2x 16mm hoses for both the inlet and outlet hoses, too. That might actually be a good idea, for some people.

I’m disappointed I didn’t consider this actually. That needed just imagination & zero skill - something I promise I’m usually good at. Who is likely to supply something like this? With 16mm options off shelf fittings become available. Appreciated

Just get a 1”/25mm Y, and two 25mm->16mm reducer barbs per side.

So, four barbs and two Ys, plus your four jet pipes and hoses.

I’m in the US, but something like that is commonly found at a hardware store or Amazon here.

The items pictured below are a 25mm/1” Y and a 1 1/4” to 1” reducer. You’d obviously want a 25mm to 16mm reducer for your pipes.
