fry traps

Morning,

any one got any tip or ideas for making fry traps?

My bristle nose have spawned again in my main tank, and I want to save as many fry as I can for friends/family before they get eaten.

In a planted tank, the small fry are difficult to catch, so wondered if I could make a fry trap that I could lift out of the tank?

The entrance would need to cling to the side of the tank for them to get in I guess.

They usually congregate on, around or behind the filter inlet & outlets, and heater at the top of the tank (at least the ones I've spotted do) ....so I usually have to encourage them into a net to safely remove them ......but it is painstaking work.

There must be an easier way?!?

I did think about the bottle traps, but not sure if BN fry would find their way in? ...its worth a go I suppose 🙂

would half a bottle (sliced lengthways) version held against the glass with magnets work?

turkey baster sounds good, I've a big one (no dirty jokes!) that I've been using to feed BBS to the rainbow fry

With bristle noses, a tunnel in their favoured spot might be just as effective - they tend to stay clinging when you lift them out so just slide it into a net and lift out the whole thing.
