I've been foraging for dead branches in a local woodland and have come across what I thought (correct me if I'm wrong) is an oak tree with some cut branches. There were some dead branches beneath it. Do these look like dead oak branches to you? I've read that oak is an excellent choice for aquariums due to its hardness.

Certainly looks like oak to me. Looks like a fine grain and there are quite a few oak branches near me that have the same weathered appearance. Nice find.
Thanks. It looks very nice, a lot like manzanita. The outer layer has started to decompose so I'm going scrape it off. Hopefully the gamble pays off
