Hey all,

I've just discovered that the top trim of my Fluval Roma 90 can lift off really easily. Not taken it off yet as the power cables and filter pipes are routed over it just now but tomorrow I am replacing the filter with a Biomaster Thermal so will be taking it all out and will pop the trim off for a look.

If I can clean up the edges etc, do you think it would be possible to leave the trim off or do you think it helps / is required with structural integrity of the tank?

As a minimum I will be popping it off to "mod" the hose inlet/outlet half moons to make them deeper so the lid actually shuts over them, but maybe a conversion to rimless would be interesting.

It's full just now and aa little push upwards and the sealant broke and it's moving freely.

Will probably keep it as I prefer having a lid to stop debris getting into the tank etc but at least I can take it off to modify it slightly for the new inlet/outlet pipes, currently the back flap sits raised due to the pipes being bigger than the allowed cut out.
