Hi,

Just set my 305 up for the first time to start cycling the tank and it seems a bit of water is trickling from the handle area on the filter. Something that will pass once it's being used or a replacement seal needed? Have placed it onto some absorbent pad in a plastic storage container just incase.

Thanks

I'd say a new deal would be your best bet, do not use Vaseline or silicone grease although it will work for a few days it won't last long at all and is not worth syphoning your tank all over the floor when a full service kit it around £20.

Agree with Darren, go for a replacement. Fluval makes great pumps, take good care of yours and it will work well for a long time.

Thanks for the replys guys.

It's a second hand unit so no warranty unfortunately. I did a bit of a reading last night and seen a few people had the same issue. On closer inspection it looks like the top doesn't fit as snug as it should new. Some rolled up tape where the clips clip into seems to have done the trick as it forces the lid on tighter. I'll grab a new seal for the sake of a few ££ to put in there as well.

Get a full service kit, it's not dear gives you a new impeller, cover, main o-ring and primer o-ring aswell. On that not I'd better order a kit for my 2nd 406 filter as I think it's drawing air through the primer
