Flow too much?

I know flow is important but I have a JBL e1501 that I was using on my Juwel vision 180.

I've just downsized to an aquaopti 85 which is 85 litres.

The JBL canister runs at 1450lph apparently. Is this too much?

If so does anyone want to buy a JBL e1501 greenline It's only 5 months old.

What else would you recommend for this size tank?

Cheers.

Edit: I've already had a great suggestion with the Ecco pro by Eheim but i'm just not sure if these produce enough with a spray bar.

If you're using a spray bar and your flow is too strong, then simply drill the holes out a fraction bigger...you will still benefit from the 1450lph turn over but without turning the tank into a washing machine.

The JBL e1501 has flow control valves allowing you to turn the flow down (do it on outlet). Manual recommends no more than 1/2 rate.

Great suggestions. I'm so happy I don't have to spend more ££.

Hi ! I don't know if it's necessary - or wise , as you've read in the manual - to reduce the output of the pump ; I personally have an EHEIM with a 950 lph pump for a nano of 35 litres and it's all good; actually the flow rate written on the package it's the flow of the pump ONLY ! with filter media and hoses you can safely divide that number by 2 , so in the end you have a turnover of about 10 times the volume of your tank, which is perfect

If you use EHEIM's taps, then reducing flow by closing them is a no-no anyway. I took mine apart and they are simply not designed for it. They will leak small amounts of water (with the filter running) when slightly closed.

I just made a spray bar from a clear PVC tube with more and slightly wider holes.

Mine is the 2071 model and I have never intended to reduce the output and I'm pretty sure that I never will
