Back with a low tech tank after closing down my 3ft hi tech 5+ years ago when space was needed for a newborn baby!
My daughter (the newborn baby!) Now nearly 5 wanted some fish, with abit of encouragement from her dad, we convinced her mum that we could set one up.
The inevitable has happened and my daughter really isn't that interested, but I have got slightly hooked again.
New tank consists of a rather used aqua one 620t
All pond solutions external filter and aquaray led lights. I plan to keep it fairly simple once I have the lighting/plant/nutrient balance right.
Stocking so far is:
Amazon swords, anubias nana, crypts, some moss (mostly gone after fighting hair algae) and a couple of java ferns that seem to be very slowly growing.
Fish are:
4 cardinals , 6 otocinclus, 5 amano shrimp and a pair off apistogramma aggassizii.
My next thing to do is add some fast growing stems to increase the current low plant mass, and add some hard scape to create some more hiding spots for the apisto's and otocinclus ( they seem very skittish whenever I go near the tank)
I have salts for dosing which is mixed per recommend from the videos I've watched. I'm dosing 20ml per week. I feel this is too little but dont want dose too much while plant mass is low. What do people think?
Here are a couple of pictures.
The pink gravel will be going soon, that was my daughter's input! And it had to be
