Hi
I am ready to purchase my first plants.
From what I have read fast growing plants are the way to go at the beginning?
I am thinking of Amazon Sword, Hornwort and others.

From videos I have watched the plants are put in with no water in the tank, maybe moist soil.
When water is added what would be the ideal temperature for the plants.
I have read that it is not a good idea to use cold water.
We have a mixer on the tap so I can get close to the ideal temp.
Thanks

Amazon sword isn't a plant I'd classify as a fast grower, but hornwort definitely is. Other ideas:

- Any surface floating plant: salvinia species, duckweed, Amazon frogbit, red root floaters etc. You can also use a mix.
- Fast growing stem plants: hornwort, guppy grass, Egeria densa, most hydrocotyle species, Limnophila sessiflora... there are many options.

I like to plant in wet substrate, so I'd at least fill the tank up to the level of the substrate first. It depends on your comfort level and the type of substrate you have.

For temperature, it will really depend on the kind of fish you want to keep. My tanks range from about 22 - 25C and my plants do fine in that.
