I have decided I would like to try out a un filtered tank with my spare 2x12x15, I am already running the shrimp tank at room temp so not worried about that side of it as have done it before anyway.

After reading a couple of the journals ( think bucket of mud was one ) that was almost un filtered fancy giving it a go. How do I go about setting up a mini habitat that will look after it self almost entirely and what could I have in the way of livestock?

Specs are,

No light just natural day light
No heater
No filter but possible pump if needed for some circulation

All advice and tips welcome

I'd strongly advise going with a pump for water circulation.

Other than that it's fairly simple. Massive amounts of planting and minimal livestock. Stick with stems and root feeders with a fertile substrate, that way you won't need to dose the water column.

White Cloud Mountain Minnows seem perfect for that size tank and temperature range.
