hey guys,

I was just wondering if anybody knows the effects filter media such as nitrate remover and carbon have on plant fert and liquid carbon, for example will it remove or stop any nutrients for the plants.

Hi Matt

Nitrate remover does what it says on the tin. Therefore this wouldn't be a good idea in a filter for a planted tank.
Carbon will remove some of your ferts, so you may have to increase your dose slightly. However, I have found that running EI levels of the stuff is usually more than enough, due to our lighting levels being a lot lower than the original EI experiments, therefore the demand for ferts is a lot lower.
Keep a close eye on your plants and adjust the dose if necessary.

Thanks for your reply,

Its water change day tomorrow so i will remove the nitrate removers from my fx5 then.
